On Tuesday I had a day off work so I decided to take the opportunity to visit a new haberdashery/yarn shop close to me so I could buy my Mum her birthday present.
Just look what greets you before you step inside the shop – such a sweet window display.
The Textile Studio opened on 6th May day this year and is a real gem. Asa sells artisan yarns and fabrics, things I had not seen anywhere else. She also holds workshops in crochet and sewing as well as a ‘drop in to knit’ afternoon once a week.
Look at all this lovely wool (I took this photo after I bought all the brightly coloured Drops Paris cotton-oops) …
gorgeous ribbons…
jars of buttons…
funky ribbon lampshades and material beautiful enough to frame using an embroidery hoop.
Thanks to Asa for allowing me to take some photos to show you all, I’ll call by the Textile Studio again soon.
I’m sure your wondering what did I buy for my Mum? Well as she doesn’t do the internet I can show you…
some Drops Paris cotton, a fat quarter and a crochet hook…
look at this – it’s like a magic wand!!!!
I hope she likes her present, if not I’ll grab the crochet hook off her before she can say “wingardium leviosa” (Harry Potter fans will know what I mean).
Jean
Got it, definitely a Harry Potter fan here. I love Asa’s shop, isn’t it nice to shop at independent shops? They put so much more time into making sure you have a good shopping experience that you want to go back. Love that crochet hook, never seen any like it before. Your mother is going to love her present.
The hook truly is a thing of beauty ๐
that looks like a place I would love to visit…I’m off to a fabric shop tomorrow, a new one for me anyway ๐
Happy shopping for tomorrow!
Yep, know what it means!! That is a nice knit or crochet hook????
Yes it was a good visit-I could’ve spent a lot of money there.
I could too!
The shop looks wonderful and I love the yarn you have chosen, looking forward to seeing what you make with it. I am sure your Mum will love her new hook too.
The cotton pictured is for my mum, I bought another 4 balls (not pictured) for myself so I’m thinking I may make some bunting with it.
What can I say… magical! ๐

What fun.
Wool/haberdashery shops are the best!
Beautiful yarn shop!! I could spend hours in one!!
Beautiful shop, and I love the hook!
The crochet hook is great and I would love a shop like that near me. Nice present for your Mum. Will you post what she makes with it?
Super shop- love the owl basket- do they do mail order?
I have no idea if she does mail order, give her a ring to find out +44 7825 157236 and tell her you found her via my blog as I’m sure she’d love to hear from a fellow crafter.
Nice to find another local blog! Yes I love the shop too and what a lovely gift for your mum. Ali
