Creative Pixie has kittens!

Wow I can’t believe it’s a been over a month since my last blog post – sorry.

There has been some big changes in the Creative Pixie house which has meant my usual crafting time has been taken up doing other family things.

We decided to decorate the girls bedroom. It was time to say goodbye to the cot and cot bed and hello to bunk beds and huge mirrored wardrobes. After many coats of paint to cover up the magnolia on walls and the ceiling we decided to paint everything white and then have a feature wall in magenta. It looks fantastic and the children are so happy with it.

My husband started a new job which involves him commuting to work, which is not great for him health wise. Β It means we have to leave the house a bit earlier in the morning and get home a little bit later but despite this he’s really enjoying it. I only hope that he stays strong enough to carry on doing it as his health is not good.

The most lovely bit of news is that we now have 2 kittens!!! We have gone from being a family of 4 to a family of 6. The kittens are 2 sisters we adopted 2 weeks ago from the Cats Protection charity. They are so beautiful and good natured for being 3 months old. What do you think of them?

Flynn and Luna the Creative Pixie Kittens

Luna is black and white, Flynn is tabby and white. Some of you may recognise the names that we gave them, Luna is after Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter books and Flynn is after Flynn Rider (Rapunzel’s boyfriend) from Tangled. Even though Flynn is a boys name we think it really suits her.

During the brief moments that I have been able to crochet I’ve been making some crochet circles in a square.

I got the pattern for the squares here. I have been using Sirdar crofter DKΒ yarn for the multicoloured circles and the white border is Rico Baby So Soft .Β Eventually I hope to have enough squares to make a blanket for the living room.

So there we have it, it’s been a very busy August/September and already I’m thinking ahead to Christmas πŸ™‚

I hope not to leave it so long again until my next blog post.

    1. Thanks. It took a couple of weeks to decorate the bedroom and then to prepare the house for the kittens. They’re fun to watch as they enjoy a crazy hour in the evening when they play fight and run around the living room.

  1. Aww kittens! I have a cat named Harvey and she is a girl, but she is such a Harvey! It confuses those who meet her because we have a boy cat named Jackson and so everyone mixes up their genders for awhile πŸ™‚

  2. Hello Jean, it’s good to see your post. You certainly have been busy! Congratulations to your husband on his new job, and I pray that he is blessed with the good health. Your kittens are darling, and their names are perfect for them. The crochet circles are wonderful, and they will make a fantastic blanket.

Blessings to you and your family,
    Marianne xo

  3. Time goes by quickly when you’re busy doesn’t it?! My August/September has been hectic too! The kittens are soooo sweet…I love how sibling cats are so cuddly and affectionate towards each other! I hope you have many fun times together! πŸ™‚

  4. Ah, your kittens are beautiful. I’d love a cat but my mum spends a lot of time with us and is allergic. It seems my daughter is too as she came back from playing with a friends cat this week with her eyes all red and streaming. I’ll just have to enjoy yours from afar.

    1. I saw that, problem is I tried knitting the other day and got a sore hand after 1 row – I guess crochet has spoiled me.

      1. mine are pony plastic childrens knitting needles 4mm yes they are a lot smaller so it is easier knitting the mice with them. Also if you are knitting bigger projects and you start to get hand ache/fatigue going to the smaller needles and knitting the mice has really helped me πŸ™‚

      2. no problems, I have trouble with my hands so that is just something that works for me, however I can not crochet at all so I need to learn that πŸ™‚ Was going to try with a larger hook and see if I can get anywhere with that

      3. I have found the tulip etimo crochet hook good for my hands, you can get them on purplelindacrafts
