It’s the end of the Easter holidays with us and I thought that I’d do a little ‘baking’ with my girls. This recipe is for a tray bake called a Fifteen which doesn’t need to be baked in an oven and is simple enough for children to make.
Ingredients
15 digestive biscuits
15 marshmallows (or a similar volume of mini marshmallows)
15 glace cherries
1/2 tin of condensed milk
desiccated coconut
I took some photos of my youngest daughter making the fifteens to share with you.
- Put the 15 digestive biscuits into a zip lock bag and crush with a rolling pin and add to a bowl.
- Cut the 15 cherries into quarters and put into the bowl.
- Cut the 15 marshmallows into quarters and put into the bowl. Pour half the contents of a tin of condensed milk to the rest of the ingredients and mix together with a spoon so that everything is coated with the condensed milk.
- Cut a sheet of grease-proof paper larger than a tray (tin foil or cling film works as well). Lay the paper on a tray and sprinkle the desiccated coconut on to it.
- Empty the bowl’s contents on to the desiccated coconut , you can add extra desiccated coconut to the top (but I’m not a huge fan so I miss this step) – it’ll look messy but don’t worry step 6 resolves this.
- Bring the front edge of the paper to meet the rear edge and roll together tightly so that you have a large Fifteen ‘sausage’. Put the sausage into the fridge and leave for several hours. Cut the sausage into slices – as thick as you want and then enjoy with a cup of tea.
Fifteens are inexpensive, easy to make and they taste so good.

I only came across fifteens last year and I love it! I really must make some again
now I want some! One of the sweet tasting things I really like, but weirdly have never made
They do look horrendous but taste fantastic
