This week I created quite possibly the most wonderful crochet creation, a doll which my eldest daughter called June.
I had seen the pattern for the doll whilst browsing on Etsy. The creator has lots of beautiful doll patterns so I asked Miss P which one she would like me to make for her.
She choose this pattern for Autumn the Bear Girl by Jojilie.
I created the doll using my stash of Drops Loves You 9 cotton yarns. I used 114 storm blue, 102 light grey, 106 beige (skin), 112 purple, 105 sand (hair).
I started the doll on Saturday and it was finished by the Wednesday. It was enjoyable to crochet apart from the arms and legs, crocheted tubes is hard on the hands.
I added some blusher to give her a rosy glow.
She is adorable, kind of wishing I didn’t promise her to Miss P.
I needed to start a 2nd (50g) ball of beige yarn and used most of the purple. However I did have lots of the brown and blue left over so it is an ideal project for left overs.
She is so cute and I’m pleased to have made her and I plan to make another 2 as gifts. I’ve ordered some more cotton but in a different brand as it have proven difficult to get a suitable beige colour again.

It is hard. I’ve also discovered that good hair colours are hard to find.
Oh yes that’s so true too! Very hard to get all the nuances and highlights that normal hair has. I was thinking maybe a yarn like Scheepjes stonewashed would work well for hair
I used Scheepjes Stonewashed in a bear recently, I used up scraps from the box of minis I bought last year. I have decided on Scheepjes Catona for my next dolls, a decision partly due to me not being able to get a nice beige in other brands.

What a wonderful creation. Is the yarn 3 ply? I see arugami like this and want to learn it to make gifts for my granddaughter.
It’s a sport weight yarn that I used to make June. I am making another doll, this time in 4 ply cotton so it’s a bit smaller. I don’t think it matters what cotton yarn you use, as long as you use a hook smaller than the suggested one on the ball band. You should give it a go, it’s basic stitches.
